Who we are and how we teach
Dr Claudio Serafini and his colleagues of Scuola Camprena specialise in one-to-one teaching (or one-to-two).
Courses are adapted to your needs, and can be at beginner, intermediate or advanced levels, as well as specialised courses
for professionals, focusing on the legal, journalistic, academic or commercial flovors of Italian.
The Scuola Camprena places at your disposal some special and unique locations, like La Locanda del Loggiato run by the Marini sisters, or the Origo family’s magnificent villa residence of La Foce or the enchanting atmosphere of Sant’Anna in Camprena under the direction of Ornella.
Of course, you don't need to stay in one of these accommodations. Your personal tutor can come to wherever you choose to stay or to where you live, within a reasonable circumference of Pienza.
La Foce, with its beautiful and famous gardens, is where during WWII the brave Irish-American Marchesa Iris Origo secretly sheltered refugee children and Allied soldiers from fascist forces. Her descendent, the current marchesa, provides facilities on the estate for the language classes and offers accommodation of various types, from a large house for ten people to an apartment for two.
Bagno Vignoni is an ancient Roman bath resort. For those who wish to snuggle themselves beside the waters and the magical vapour of the Vignoni bagno (the outdoor Roman baths) you can contact Sabrina and Barbara at the Locanda del loggiato, who operate a small and romantic bed and breakfast. – classes take place in La Locanda courtesy of the sisters Marini.
The ideally beautiful former monastery of Sant’Anna in Camprena, which featured prominently in the 1996 movie The English Patient. This agriturismo is operated by Ornella and Stefano, who host the Scuola Camprena's classes. The 13th century monastery has multiple accommodations in double and single rooms and serves a fine evening dinner in the refectory. The school of Michelangelo frescoist, Giovanni Antonio Bazzi, known as Il Sodoma, painted biblical scenes in the best High Renaissance style in this refectory.
Il Casalino has been the home of the Petri family for over two centuries, where they have produced their own olive oil and wine for decades. Now, having beautifully renovated the house to preserve its original features, they welcome guests and host the classrooms of the Scuola Camprena. – Phone: +39 3409089018
